The Department of Technological and Professional Education at O. Dovzhenko Hlukhiv National Pedagogical University is responsible for training highly qualified specialists majoring in 014.10 Secondary education (Labor training and technologies) for "Bachelor" and "Master" degrees, in 011 Educational, Pedagogical Sciences – PhD, and 015 Professional education – Doctor of Sciences.
The department offers educational programs such as the Bachelor's program "Secondary Education (Labor Education and Technologies. Informatics)," the Master's program "Secondary Education (Labor Education and Technologies)," and the Doctoral program "Theory and Methodology of Higher Education."
Currently, the department is led by a professional in the field, a leading Ukrainian scholar, competent educator, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, and Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Vira Panasivna Kurok. The faculty includes experienced instructors and renowned researchers such as Dr. Sc. Ped., Prof. S. O. Burchak, Ph.D. Ped., Assoc. Prof. T. A. Khoruzhenko, Ph.D. Ped., Assoc. Prof. B. O. Shevel, Ph.D. Tech. Sc., Assoc. Prof. V. S. Tolmachov, Ph.D. Ped. Sc. N. A. Borysenko, Ph.D. Ped. Sc. O. M. Deshchenko, Ph.D. Ped. Sc. S. S. Marchenko, assistants (graduate students) A. O. Androsenko, O. O. Soroka, and assistant B. S. Tropak.
The department hosts the Scientific School of Vira P. Kurok, focusing on the professional training of prospective teachers in labor education and technologies. The main directions of the school's work include issues related to the preparation of prospective teachers in labor education and technologies and professional educators in higher education institutions, improvement of teaching methods for labor education and technologies in general secondary education institutions, and the development of technological and professional education in Ukraine.
The results of these research activities are reflected in publications in scientific journals indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, Index Copernicus, as well as in Ukrainian specialized collections of scientific works (Category B), materials of national and international scientific conferences, and seminars in Ukraine and abroad. The main research areas align with the profile of training highly qualified prospective teachers in labor education and technologies, informatics, and competitiveness in the job market. Additionally, the department is committed to publishing educational materials for the quality preparation of students.
Collaborating with the Institute of Professional Education of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, the department organizes the international scientific-practical conference "Current Issues of Technological and Professional Education" every two years. For over 12 years, the department has also been organizing a regional scientific-methodical seminar "Technological Education in the Context of the Conceptual Principles of the 'New Ukrainian School'" for teachers of labor education and technologies. The seminar's theme consistently addresses contemporary issues in technological education for young people. Regular round tables and scientific-methodical seminars on relevant issues of technological and professional education are conducted at the department.
The department's students consistently achieve success in the second round of the All-Ukrainian competition of student research papers in the specialty "Technological Education" and the second stage of the All-Ukrainian Olympiad in labor education among students of higher education institutions. In recognition of significant achievements in the field of technological education, the department has received acknowledgment in Ukraine and has been awarded the title "Leader of Technological Education."
The department aims for innovative education and the development of its students – prospective teachers of labor education and technologies, informatics, and instructors of specialized postgraduate education institutions. They conduct relevant research in the field of technological education within the context of Eurointegration processes. The goal is to create a modern, stimulating, and favorable educational environment for students, enabling the formation of necessary for them general and professional competencies.
